What This Privacy Policy Covers
• This Privacy Policy applies with respect to information Alliance Storage Technologies, Inc. (hereinafter “Alliance”) collects from Web sites on which a direct hyperlink to this "Privacy Policy" is posted. It describes the way Alliance handle information learned about you from your visit to our Web sites.
• This Privacy Policy applies to the practices of companies that Alliance owns and or controls, and the people that Alliance employs and manages.
• Alliance participates in the Safe Harbor program developed by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the European Union. To view our certification, visit the U.S. Department of Commerce's Safe Harbor Web site. Are we part of this or do we need to be http://export.gov/safeharbor/
• Other Web sites (including those Alliance link to) not owned or operated by or for Alliance may have different data processing practices for which Alliance do not vouch or assume responsibility.

Who This Privacy Policy Covers
• Customers and Business Partners — On Alliance web sites you can order products or services, register products, request information, subscribe to marketing or support materials, register to a secure extranet site to obtain access to product information, support, services, and training. Alliance will collect personal information from you for these purposes. The types of information you provide to Alliance on these pages may include name, address, phone number, e-mail address, user IDs and passwords, billing and transaction information, credit card or other financial information, and contact preferences.
• Employees and Applicants — Alliance also collects personal information from its employees and applicants (human resources data) in connection with its recruiting and hiring activities and administration of its human resources programs and functions. Current Alliance employees also have the ability to go on-line to access their individual employee profiles, job-related data, compensation and benefit information, to make benefit elections and transactions and to make changes to their personal information.

As is standard practice on many websites, Alliance may set and access cookies, web beacons, Flash cookies, and other technologies on your computer. What are Cookies
Cookies are small amounts of information stored in files within your computer's browser. Web sites can access only the cookies that they have stored on your computer. For example, if Acme computer company stores a cookie on your browser, Acme may access its own cookie but not that of another company.
Alliance may use cookies for the following purposes:
• To help us recognize your browser as a previous visitor and save and remember any preferences that may have been set while your browser was visiting the Site. For example, Alliance may save your login information so you don't have to sign in every time you visit the site;

What are Web Beacons
Alliance may use web beacons (also called transparent GIFs, web bugs, pixels, or action tags). These technologies are strings of code that deliver a tiny graphic image on a web page or in an email. Web beacons can recognize certain types of information on your computer such as cookies, the time and date a page is viewed, and a description of the page on which the web beacon is placed. In general, any file served as part of a web page can act as a web beacon. Alliance use web beacons for various tracking purposes, like determining whether or not you are logged into the Site and whether or not you are connected to a third-party service. Third parties also may use web beacons on the Site to receive auditing, research, and reporting information, or to understand your interests and select and deliver to you advertisements that are tailored to your interests.

What are Flash Cookies
Some of the Site's third-party partners may use Flash cookies, otherwise known as locally shared objects (LSOs), to track user behaviors in various ways. LSOs keep collections of cookie-like data stored in a directory on a user's computer, and are installed through Adobe's Flash video player. Collection of Information

General
Alliance collects personal information about you that you voluntarily submit to us, such as by ordering products or services on our Web sites, filling out a form or survey, participating in webinars, entering a contest or sweepstakes, registering your email address with us or emailing us. Alliance may also collect personal information from you at other points on our Web sites that state that personal information is being collected. Personal information that Alliance collect from you may consist of your address, email address, or phone number, contact information, product purchase information or product usage information and other information that is not otherwise publicly available.

Alliance also collects statistical information about you, such as the pages visited on the Alliance Web sites, unique URLs visited within our Web sites, the domains from which people visit our Web sites, browser type and IP address.. We collect information that is sent to us automatically by your web browser when you interact with our Web sites. We may collect  information about visitors to our Web site using third party services. Most of this information is collected via cookies or other analysis technologies . The information we receive depends on your browser settings. Accepting the cookies used on our site does not give us access to your personal information, but Alliance may use the cookies to identify your computer.

Sensitive information
Sensitive information is defined as personal information specifying medical or health conditions, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, or information specifying the sex life of the individual.
Except as provided below, Alliance does not request or receive sensitive information from visitors to our web sites. Alliance may receive sensitive information such as medical or health conditions, or race and ethnic data regarding its employees or their dependents in connection with the administration of its health and welfare benefit plans, or as part of government mandated recordkeeping requirements where required by law. Such information will not be shared with third parties except as permitted by applicable law or as required in connection with the administration of human resources programs. In addition, sensitive information that has not been made public by an affected employee will not be used for a purpose other than its original purpose without the employee's approval unless allowed under applicable law. Where appropriate under applicable laws, you will be given a more detailed explanation of sensitive information uses at the relevant time.

Children
Alliance is committed to protecting the privacy of children and Alliance encourages parents and guardians to take an active role in their children's online activities and interests. Alliance does not knowingly collect personal information from children and Alliance does not knowingly market our products or services to children. 

Sharing and Disclosure of Information

Personal Information
Alliance does not sell, rent or share your personal information with nonaffiliated companies except to provide services or products you've requested, when Alliance have your permission, as required by law, or under the following circumstances: (1) Alliance may provide the information about you to trusted agents and or service providers who work on behalf of or with Alliance under contract including confidentiality agreements. These companies may be in the United States or in other parts of the world. (2) Alliance may disclose information about you if Alliance is acquired by or merged with another company. In this event, Alliance will notify you before information about you is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy. (3) Alliance may disclose information in situations involving violations our terms and conditions posted on our Web sites, potential risks to the physical safety of any person, where Alliance believe it is necessary to in order to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding suspected fraud or illegal activities, or as otherwise required by law.

When you submit personal information to us during your visit to our Web sites, Alliance will let you know how you can (a) prevent our use of this information for marketing purposes or, (b) if Alliance are required to do so under applicable laws, prevent the disclosure of this information to third parties for marketing purposes, if you so choose.

Aggregate Information (non-personally identifiable)
However, Alliance might share your personally identifiable information and aggregated (non-personally identifiable) information with our affiliates, distributors and resellers if allowed to do so under applicable laws. The affiliated companies, distributors and resellers may be in the United States or in other parts of the world.

Use of Information
Alliance uses personal identifiable and non-identifiable information for our marketing and sales purposes, for Web site administration, to improve Web site user services and for such purposes as expressly stated when you provided your information.. Of course, if applicable, Alliance does use personally identifiable information to perform the services for which such data was collected (i.e. if you order a product or service, Alliance will deliver the product or provide the service as requested or if you sign up for an email newsletter, Alliance will send the email newsletter to the address you provide us).

Occasionally, Alliance will send you e-mail communications with information, which may be useful to you, including information about our products and services or about offerings from affiliates or business partners. When you first provide us with your e-mail address, you will be given the option of not receiving any such e-mail communications. Alliance will include instructions in our e-mail messages on how to unsubscribe if you later decide you do not want to receive any future e-mail communications.

From time-to-time, our Web sites request information from users via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and the user therefore has a choice whether or not to disclose the requested information. Personal information given to us in one country may be transferred to a different country for the purpose of processing, data consolidation, storage and simplified customer information management, unless prohibited by applicable law.

Use of employee and job applicant personal information
Alliance uses personal information of its employees, contractors, and job applicants for a variety of human resources and similar functions, including job applications and hiring programs, compensation and benefit programs, performance appraisals, training, business travel, expense and tuition reimbursement, identification cards, access to Alliance facilities and computer networks, employee profiles, internal employee directories, human resources recordkeeping, compliance with legal requirements and other employment related purposes.

The personal data you choose to give to unrelated third parties is not covered by our Privacy Policy.

Security
Alliance is committed to protecting the information you provide us. To prevent unauthorized access or disclosure, to maintain data accuracy, and to ensure the appropriate use of the information, Alliance has in place physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard the information Alliance collects. If appropriate, Alliance uses authentication tools among other methods to protect your web-based personal information. Of course, there is no such thing as "perfect security" on the Internet. E-mails you send us are not necessarily secure when they are transmitted to us. If your communication is sensitive or includes highly confidential information, you may want to provide it by post or via the telephone instead. When appropriate, Alliance restricts the number of employees internally who can access such data and instruct such employees that the data is to be used only in adherence with the principles set forth in this Privacy Policy and our internal policies.

Choice/Opt-Out
Alliance provides you the opportunity to 'opt-out' of having your personally identifiable information used for certain purposes, when Alliance asks for this information. For example, if you purchase a product or service but do not wish to receive any additional marketing material from us, you can indicate your preference on our order form.

If you want to opt-out of receiving communications such as e-mail newsletters, white papers or promotional communications, you may do so by selecting the "opt-out" or "unsubscribe" link in each email that you receive from us, by returning to the Web site where you originally submitted your information, if applicable, and following the opt-out instructions therein, by using the online form entitled "Opt Out”

Changes in this Privacy Statement
If Alliance decides to change our privacy policy, Alliance will post those changes to this privacy statement, the homepage, and other places Alliance deem appropriate so that you are aware of what information Alliance collect, how Alliance use it, and under what circumstances, if any, Alliance disclose it.
